Former Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger connects backs to Metaverse startup

Bob Iger, the former CEO of The Walt Disney Company, declared on Twitter today that he is joining together with the board of directors of Genies, a digital avatar platform created on the Flow blockchain, a protocol for NFT collectibles, and large-scale crypto games.

Iger assisted as the CEO of Disney Company from 2005 to 2020. In Genies, Iger will take up the role of a mentor.

Since launching in December 2016, Los Angeles-based Genie has put up $100 million in funding, containing a $65 million round in 2021 governed by Miami Group. In the same year, Genies approved a partnership with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to come to be the official provider of Avatar and NFTs to artists on the music label.

Aakash Nigam, co-founder, and CEO of Genies depicts Genies avatars as an assortment of various NFTs worn by a digital avatar that users can buy, sell and trade with other collectors.

In an interview with Decrypt, Nigam elucidated that after meeting Iger, he gave mogul a chance to get “under the hood” of Genies to play with all of the platform’s technology and attain an understanding of what the service is approximate.

“I’m learning a ton and looking forward to helping(Genies) attain their vision,” Iger posted, showing off his new digital avatar.

According to Nigam, the idea for Genies came when he experienced online avatars, and felt that such images could encapsulate a person’s feelings, emotions, and thoughts in a way that other forms of internet communication don’t accomplish.

“Our goal has been to transmit avatars for the gatherings,” explains Nigam. “We reckon that avatars are getting on to be the following aspect of communication.”
